Thursday Night Kickoff : Cowboys vs Bucs

THE NFL IS BACK!!!! Just in time because I am about give up on my Dodgers who have now fallen to two games behind the Giants for first place in the NL West and I won’t survive a one-game playoff in the Wild Card round. I digress, the NFL, the lifeblood of my existence is back this evening with an awesome NFC matchup. We have the healthy and ready to impress Dallas Cowboys led by QB Dak Prescott and the defending Super Bowl Champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by BONER ALERT CAPTAIN, Thomas Edward Brady.

It seems fitting that we start the NFL season every year on Thursday night on NBC with Al Michaels and Chris Collinsworth, in my humble opinion, the best football broadcasting duo that we currently have. Theres something about the cool breeze and the NBC football music that makes me feel like all is right in the world. It really is amazing that sports, especially football can bring a pep to my step, alleviate depression and now put a big fat smile on my face, it truly is remarkable.

This is clearly a put up or shut up year for the Dallas Cowboys. M3 and I just recorded our NFL preview show that will be released tomorrow or Saturday A.M. and I have the Cowboys winning the NFC East (YOU CAN FIND “THE CORNER BOOTH” ON SPOTIFY AND APPLE BY SEARCHING “PROCRASTINATION PODCAST NETWORK”). It pains me to pick the Cowboys but if they are healthy they are head and shoulders better than the entire division, that is on paper of course. They have to prove they can win the big games, they have to prove that Mike McCarthy is in fact a suitable Head Coach in the NFL and most importantly they have to prove that Dak was worth the truckloads of money that Jerry Jones dropped on his doorstep.

The Bucs, they are an entirely different situation. They are the defending Super Bowl Champions, they are riding high, they are bringing back their entire Super Bowl winning team in terms of starters and they have the greatest Quarterback in the history of the sport in Tom Brady. Last year, Tampa Bay had the Super Bowl Champion, Stanley Cup Champion and the American League Champion, not too shabby of a year for Tampa Bay sports. Oh, not to mention the Lightning won the Cup again this year and the Rays have the best record in the American League as of today. All is right in the sports world of Tampa Bay.

This game is interesting, the Cowboys are getting NO RESPECT. They are getting a whopping 8.5 points in this game and I personally think that is too much. I like Tampa Bay to win this game in a relatively low scoring affair, I like the under at 50.5 but I don’t like it as much as getting the points with Dallas. I just think Dallas will be as fired up to play Tampa as anytime all year, this is a big game to show that they belong and with their offense healthy, I think they will be able to put up points even against Tampa Bay’s superb defense.

I will have my full NFL Week 1 picks blog out shortly. Until then, get ready for some thursday night football!
