Dodgers Strike Gold – Scherzer & Turner To La La Land As Astros Come To Town

As previously discussed, the Dodgers needed to make a substantial splash at the trade deadline and they sure as fuck did that. The Dodgers traded prospects who I had zero interest in for one of the greatest pitchers of our generation in Max Scherzer and all-star shortstop Trea Turner.

Max Scherzer will make his Dodgers debut tomorrow night against the Houston Astros as they return to Dodger Stadium tonight for the first time in front of fans since the 2017 World Series so tensions will be high. In addition, the Dodgers need to start winning every series from here on out. They currently sit 3.5 games behind the San Francisco Giants for 1st place in the NL West and the best record in all of baseball. The Dodgers have a comfortable lead in the NL Wild Card race and for the first time all season, the Dodgers are finally almost 100% healthy. They have the core back in place as Seager and Betts have come off of the DL but they are still waiting on Trea Turner who is expected to join the team this upcoming weekend as he navigates through the COVID protocol and clears testing procedure to return to the field.

This season has been plagued with injuries and the defending champs are still in the hunt and they have made tremendous acquisitions including LHP Danny Duffy who will return at the end of this month will strengthen this team down the stretch as they eye their 9th straight NL West Division title. If that’s not in the cards then the Dodgers need to continue to fight to stay atop the NL Wild Card race so they will play the one game playoff at Dodgers Stadium with either Buehler or Scherzer on the bump to get into the NLDS, those are odds that I tend to like an awful lot.

The Dodgers begin their two game series with the Houston Astros tonight and they will send Walker Buehler to the mound who is 11-1 with a 2.19 ERA – he will square off against Lance McCullers and the 64 win Astros who will be treating these games with high intensity. Last year was the infamous Joe Kelly taunting the Astros so tensions will most likely still be high and hopefully boil over at some point.

So let’s gear up and get ready to push this team to another pennant down the stretch, it all starts tonight, two months remaining in the season, trailing by 3.5 and the horses are in the stable and ready to run. RANDY CUE THE MUSIC!
