Conference Tourney Picks : Thirsty Thursday

Well, ladies and gentlemen, I am on an absolute heater when it comes to college hoops. There is a ton of night games to help ease you into this conference championship weekend and I am here to help you navigate these waters, en route to a pile of cash.

Let’s look at these games individually, my first selection would have to be the UNC Tar Heels. They square off against Virginia Tech and UNC is one of the hottest teams in all of college basketball. Bacot and Love will provide the offense and I am a big fan of Kessler to chip in here as well. This offense is too much for V.T. and lets lay the 4 without thinking twice.

Switching gears to the Big 12, we have a great matchup with Kansas and Oklahoma. OU has lost some games this year that are absolute head scratchers and I am never sure what team will show up, the team that loses to bum teams like Kansas State or the team who is able to shut you down defensively and score just enough to drive you absolutely crazy. This is a phenomenal coaching matchup with Kruger and Self but I have to give the edge to Kansas, I don’t love the point spread here but I trust Kansas way more this time of year than I do the Sooners. Both of these teams are tournament teams but if you recall, Kansas was written off early in the year and I think they are out to prove something and give the 3.5 points.

One of my sleeper teams is the University of Alabama Birmingham and they have flown under the radar all year, they will take on the Rice Owls who have no business being on the same court as UAB. I like this to be an absolute blowout, UAB in a route, the spread might scare some people but be sure to not over-think it and jump with two feet into the deep end, lay the 9 points.

Before all you sandbaggers start giving me grief for going with chalk, slow your roll because I got three underdogs for you as well. Lets start with my boy Tom Crean, brother-in-law of Michigan Football Coach, Jim Harbaugh. He is in his second season with Georgia and they will be getting 6 points against Mizzou. I like Crean in this spot, with this team and proving to the college basketball world that Crean was the reason Indiana was relevant in recent memory. Take the Bulldogs getting the points.

This might be the nostalgia getting the best of me and thinking of Tark biting the towel but I am in love with the UNLV Runnin’ Rebs tonight. Utah State is better than they have been in a while but they aren’t a powerhouse by any means, the battle for the state of Nevada will not be taken lightly and getting 9.5 points just seems like too much, let’s ride with the Rebs.

Texas is an underdog tonight, barely an underdog but an underdog none the less. They are getting a point and a half against Texas Tech. I think the longhorns are a sneaky team to watch out for in tournament time and I thin k they make a statement with an inner-state victory tonight. Let’s back Coach Smart and the Longhorns and roll the dice on this one.

God speed everybody, lets make it happen!
