Season 16 of The Bachelorette hasn’t even finished filming and it’s still unclear who the Bachelorette is, who’s hosting the show, and if the men are still alive. Ok, that last part is a joke. But seriously, I can’t take the daily news of all the changes happening so let’s break it down.
March 2, 2020 – Clare Crawley (39) is announced as the new Bachelorette on Good Morning America. This also made her the oldest Bachelorette in the show’s history, taking the spot from Rachel Lindsay who was 32 when her season aired.
Late March (dates unknown) – Producers begin to re-cast contestants since the men were picked BEFORE Claire was! This season already started as a complete cluster even before COVID hit and threw a real wrench into things!
July 30, 2020 – The first real bombshell. Clare QUITS her role as the bachelorette to be with Dale Moss, a 31 year old from Brandon, South Dakota. Reality Steve also reported that Dale received the first impression rose. As we have seen in many past Bachelorette seasons, the first impression rose is given to the guy who ultimately ends up winning the season.
August 2, 2020 – Tayshia Adams steps in to take over as Bachelorette. At this point, The Bachelorette was only two weeks into filming, which is 3 months in “bachelor world time”. Reality Steve reported that there were only 15 men left at this point, which pretty much splits the season in half for Clare and Tayshia.
August 6, 2020 – Hannah Ann Sluss and Becca Kufrin arrive on set. As most fans know, Hannah Ann was chosen on Peter’s season before he decided he actually wanted to be with Maddie Prewitt…oh wait no. He wanted Kelley (Honestly, who even knows at this point). And Becca, we know and love her from Arie’s season, and then her season as Bachelorette. Rumors have also been spiraling around this time that her and fiancé Garrett split. Why are they showing up? That’s still pending information. My guess is it’s just small cameos.
August 12, 2020 – Chris Harrison leaves the set. UM WHAT? Just a false alarm, he’s bringing his son to college.
August 13, 2020 – Jojo Fletcher replaces Chris Harrison as the host for two weeks. Again, two weeks in “bachelor time” is like half the season. HOW IS THIS HAPPENING?!
August 17, 2020 – ET shares a photo of Clare in a fancy red dress with Chris Harrison talking to someone who looks to be a producer. So did Clare actually pick Dale? Is she still the bachelorette and this is all one big marketing move by ABC to throw everyone off so more people watch the show?
August 28, 2020 – The official announcement of the season hits all platforms, WITH A GIANT PHOTO OF CLARE. No Tayshia in sight.
October 13, 2020 – I’m sorry but I have to say it. The MOST DRAMATIC SEASON EVER begins.
