Your two favorite arm chair movie critics are back and discussing the absolute classic Raiders of the Lost Ark, where the world is introduced to Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones.
The movie brought together two of the largest forces in the movie business, Steven Spielberg fresh off of Jaws and George Lucas who had given the world Star Wars just a few years previous. The movie stars Harrison Ford who portrays Indiana Jones much better than he pilots small aircraft. The film made roughly, 390 million dollars and continues to be one of the highest grossing movies of all-time when adjusted for inflation. The film received eight Academy Awards nominations, including one for best picture at the 1982 Oscars, where it lost to Chariots of Fire.
How did the guys rate Raiders as compared to the others? Did they rate it as well as Scarface and Casino the current leaders in the clubhouse with 7.9? So far, the guys have reviewed Interstellar (7.5), HEAT (7.25), Drive (7.85), Se7en (6.85), Sicario (6.9), and Pineapple Express (6.65). The episodes above are on Spotify.

Harrison Ford as Indy. Iconic. Legendary. Marriage of actor and character perhaps never equaled since.

When doing research for the podcast I was stunned he didn’t get a Best Actor nod back then.

I don’t think those kind of movies/performances were getting Oscar love back then. Maybe they still aren’t. Then again, there are no movies or performances like that anymore!
