Since the beginning of quarantine, we have been clamoring for sports, we have talked ourselves into UFC, NASCAR, re-runs of old games and betting our paychecks away on horse racing, aka, the sport of kings.
Tomorrow at 3PM we get live golf with the two greatest golfers and quarterbacks of the last twenty-five years. Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning will be taking on Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady in a charity golf event. There has been $10 million pledged from WarnerMedia and more money will be raised during the actual event by the golfers. That money will go to benefit places like Direct Relief, American Red Cross, Save Small Business and the ALL In Challenge.
The commentators for the event are notable sports figures, PGA pro Justin Thomas and NBA Hall of Famer, Charles Barkley will be on the call. Justin Thomas seems like a major dweeb and will try to be funny and not approach even Amanda Bynes level of humor. Barkley, notoriously has one of the worst golf swings in modern history. Aside from that, he is the most hilarious and outspoken analyst of all-time, so we need to thank our lucky stars that he will be on the call, we went one for two in regard to analyst for the big event.
Let’s look into the gambling aspect of this match. As many of you know, the original “match” two years ago between Tiger and Phil was highly anticipated and it was a fun event to watch as a fan of golf. Mickelson went into that event as the underdog and won millions of dollars, he is once again the underdog tomorrow, this time, Mickelson and Brady are +195. I think you have to look into the Mickelson and Brady bet, Woods and Manning are going off at -235, that is a bigger number than I am comfortable playing with. Don’t get me wrong, I love Tiger but Phil is one of two guys that I love to root for on the PGA tour, the other was John Daly. I am rooting for Phil and Brady to pull this off and with them as the underdog, I think that is the play.
I am really excited about this event, some of the most notable athletes of my lifetime teeing it up for a great cause. As we close in on resuming live sports, this is exactly the type of action we need to enjoy a MDW Sunday and have a relaxing afternoon. Hear, hear to the ProcrastiNation.
